Mount Helix was named after a snail in the area, the Helix aspersa.  Mount Helix is known as the “Crown Jewel” of San Diego East County.

Mt. Helix Park, which was built in 1925, as a memorial for Mary Yawkey, brings many visits today for soul searching and spiritual uplifting as it did for Mary.

Being one of San Diego County’s most recognized landmarks; Mt. Helix Park offers beautiful, panoramic views. Mt. Helix Park can even become an unforgettable venue for some of your special events, weddings, picnics, you name it. There are often plays and concerts held here as well.

There is limited parking at the top of the hill and additional parking in the fields at the corner of Mt. Helix Drive and Vivera.  Feel free to use the lots when enjoying the Park.

This is a discussion on the sales prices of homes sold recently as compared to last year. In the past 90 days, there have been 15 homes that have sold and closed escrow in Mt Helix, La Mesa, CA. These homes range in prices from a low of $360,000 for 4 bedroom 3.5 bath, and 3434 square foot home on Alpine ave. and a high price of $616,500 for a 4 bedroom, 2 baths, and 2,170 square foot home on Kimberly Woods. The average sold price is $555,633 the average price per square foot is $236 and the average days on market are 53 days. Sales price compared to list price is 97%.

During this same 90 day period last year, there were 13 homes that sold and closed escrow in Mt Helix La Mesa, CA. These homes range in price from a low of $345,000 for a 4 bedroom, 2 bath, and 2266 square foot home on Marguerita Ln. Up to the high price of $650,000 for a 3bedroom, 3 baths,  2394 square foot home on Vista Arroyo. The average price of these sold homes one year ago was $656,370 and the average price per square foot was $285. Also, the average days on the market were 52 days. Sales price compared to list price is 96%.

Comparing these figures to the current market are the following; the average price decreased by 14.5% and the average price per square foot decreased by 17%. Comparison on the number of sales increased by 15%.

The amphitheater at the top of the mountain is used for theatrical presentations and popular Easter sunrise services. Homes in Mt. Helix at 91941 La Mesa, are elevated with views of San Diego County and come in various varieties from exotic modern construction, custom mansions with expansive views, to quaint cabins on old Avocado groves.

The average sold price is $627,048 the average price per square foot is $254 and the average days on market are 55 days. Sales price compared to list price is 95%.

During this same 90 day period last year, there were 15 homes that sold and closed escrow in Mt. Helix, CA. These homes range in price from a low of $560,000 for a 4 bedroom, 3 bath, and 2,090 square foot home on Vista Arroyo. Up to the high price of $1,887,500 for a 4 bedroom, 3 baths, 3,938 square foot home on Heavenly Way. The prices decreased inline compared to the rest of the market, because of tighter lending guide lines and increase in foreclosures. The sales activity decreased by 6.5% which still shows a demand for homes in Mt. Helix, CA. The total picture shows signs of good stability for Mt. Helix prices. Due to the low interest rates and high demand for the Mt. Helix area and low prices there has been a lot of activity including multiple offers on properties, especially bank owned.
